Best to be used in areas where there is a constant supply of prawns / shrimp moving throughout the system. Target areas like weeded flats, backs of canals, snags, pontoons and small gut ways / creeks that are flowing into the main water body.
Flats – weeded flats are great areas to target because weed holds large numbers of prawns. Prawns like to feed and live in and around weeded flats and in turn the predatory fish follow. Long cast across the flats paying particular attention to sanded areas between weeded areas, subtle dept changes and contour brakes.
Backs of Canals – canals are great areas to target with surface lures because of the constant prawn population. Backs of canals where there is usually a smallish flat with little or no tidal run are great areas to target surface feeding bream.
Snags – prawns like to hold tight to snags and predatory bream like to haunt these structures for easy feeds. Is best to cast the PX past the snag and work it with the current into the strike zone before pausing the lure before commencing the retrieve for great results.
Pontoons – theses areas are magnets for jelly prawns. Pontoons are much like working snags; cast past the structure working it alongside the pontoon allowing the lure to pause before commencing the retrieve.
Small Gut Ways / Creeks – predatory fish like to sit in ambush for anything getting flushed out of small flowing drains and creeks. Casting the PX upstream and working back with the current towards the boat results in many big fish.
